Barry M. Concool, M.D., Medical Director and Chief LASIK Surgeon at Weston's Las Olas Laser Eye Center, South Florida's premium LASIK Eye Center, is a board-certified, award winning, fellowship trained ophthalmologist, an experienced LASIK surgeon. Dr. Concool established Weston's Las Olas Laser Eye Center with a desired mission to enrich the lives of many through personalized laser vision correction.
In 2007, Dr. Concool was named by LaserVision as one of the Top 5 surgeons in the United States, out of 800 LASIK surgeons and the only one in Florida. In 2000, he won the VISX “Star” award as one of the Nations Best LASIK surgeons.
Born and raised in New York, Dr. Concool began his collegiate career when he attended Columbia University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology. He then received his medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, also in New York. Dr. Concool served a three-year residency in ophthalmology at Mount Sinai, where he was
chief resident. He was one of two residents selected nationwide for the prestigious fellowship of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Concool has been a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology since 1985.
Dr. Concool's refractive surgery experience dates back to 1983. With over fifteen thousand LASIK procedures performed, he is recognized as one of the most experienced LASIK surgeons in the country. He was one of the first surgeons in the nation to be certified to perform LASIK on the VISX Star S4 and the Autonomous LADARVision ® excimer lasers. With a practice limited to laser vision correction, Dr. Concool is constantly involved with teaching and proctoring other LASIK surgeons on the newest techniques, and his expertise is often called upon to render second opinions on complex cases. He is an expert in Bladeless LASIK surgery. His ability to be meticulous and detail-oriented in his approach to medicine with proven outstanding surgical outcomes, and his support and involvement in the development of technological advances in refractive surgery, have afforded Dr. Concool both a respected and successful practice.
Currently, Dr. Concool holds medical affiliations within the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, International Society of Refractive Surgery, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. In addition, he is an established member of local, state and national medical societies.
